Captain Stephen M. Carmona’s Captain’s Corner:

I would like to wish you and yours a very happy and safe Holiday Season! This is a special time of year and I know everyone is looking forward to celebrating with family and friends. New Year ’s Eve brings with it not only joy as we look forward to the year ahead but, unfortunately, in today’s climate, it is imperative that we all be extra vigilant. I can’t say enough “if you see something, say something.” That being said if something appears out of the ordinary, please call the police and let us take over from there. Unlike other months of the year, the winter holidays is a time for us to spend time doing with such activities such as decorating our homes, shopping for presents, and spending much deserved time with our loved ones. It is a busy time of year for everyone and I want to remind you that we can never be too careful! Always lock and secure your doors and windows when leaving your home and vehicles. Do not leave any purchased gifts in plain sight or, for that matter, even a quick jaunt out of the car to pick up that last minute gift. You don’t want to return to your vehicle only to find that someone got there first! Park in well-lit areas and be aware of your surroundings. Taking just a few extra precautions can prevent you or your loved ones from becoming a victim of crime. For additional Holiday Safety Tips, please call the Senior Lead Office at (818) 754-8358.

The North Hollywood Area is busy preparing for various holiday events including the Annual Toy Caravan, Senior Center Visits, Food Basket, as well as our successful Toy Drive. If you would like to donate canned and/or packaged food items for the food drive, it will help feed many families that would otherwise not have a nice meal on the table. Insofar as the Toy Drive, we have a donation box in the lobby of the station, where you can leave unwrapped, new toys for children of all ages. To see the smiles on the faces of the families our station serves, whether it is a meal or a gift, is worth more than words can say. Thank you in advance for your generous donations.

On behalf of the men and women at the North Hollywood Area police station, have a wonderful, safe and joyous Holiday season.
