Captain’s Corner:

Now that the decorations have been taken down, springtime is already here. Although spring is already here, the lack of rain has made for the need to cut down on water usage. North Hollywood is a lovely city and it is amazing to see the different things that people are doing with their home gardens. Should you be driving, or walking, you can all be our community partners in making our city safe. We continue to strive to strengthen the community policing efforts and enhance the communication between the community and the police officers that are serving you all.

As we asked last month, we continue to seek community input and assistance in working together to make the North Hollywood area the safest it can possibly be. Please stop in to the North Hollywood Community Police Station and visit with the officers who are protecting you and your loved ones. Also, come in to see what we call, The Little Free Library, which is located in the Station lobby and it is always stocked with children's books. Bring one or borrow one. It’s definitely been proven that reading to your child every night increases their comprehension by one whole grade. Staying involved with your children will keep them and those around you as safe as possible.

As the weather continues to warm up and we are in the midst of Spring Break, I must remind you all again to remain vigilant in keeping your homes and vehicles secured. Watch out for your neighborhood and get to know your neighbors. I know the issue. As I stated last month, we must all work together and maintain open lines of communication and with that, I am pleased to announce North Hollywood has its very own dedicated crime tip line. This dedicated crime line will be used to respond to and investigate all possible leads regarding criminal activity. The number to this Crime Tip Line is (818) 754-8480.

In closing, thank you all for getting involved with our community efforts. Last month, North Hollywood hosted CicLAvia, which allowed increased pedestrian and bicycle traffic along the Lankershim and Ventura corridors. Hopefully this was an opportunity that many of you took advantage of and an opportunity to explore some of the many wonderful restaurants, stores, theaters, and other special locations that are popping up all through the North Hollywood Area. This is a community rich with culture and I am honored to lead the men and women of the Los Angeles Police Department, North Hollywood Division in making your community the best and safest it can be.
